If you get stuck in a loop watching ridiculous NFL clips on YouTube, you might forget that these amazing, otherworldly athletes are actually real people just like us. And, while football is first and foremost most important in their life, NFL quarterbacks also have other interests. On top of that, many NFL quarterbacks are fairly fascinating, funny, and all-around cool. Or at least it seems that way and it’s a theory we’d love to test out.
In our opinion, the best way to see if someone is actually interesting is to have a drink and a chat. And while coffee is cool, we prefer a nice beer or two. In that vein, we picked 10 NFL quarterbacks that, through commercials, interviews, social media, and general fame, look like they might be fun to have a beer with. Keep scrolling to see who we picked, how they stacked up, and why we picked them.
Ranked QBs to have a beer with
10. Patrick Mahomes
Honestly, even with his sports prowess, Patrick Mahomes comes off as kind of a nerd in interviews and his State Farm commercials. We’d love to throw back a few beers to see if that’s true or if there’s more to the Chiefs star.
9. Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers has had a year of strange interviews, contract negotiations, and the loss of his star receiver. We don’t know if we’d like Rodgers, but we’d still like to grab a beer to see. The potential conspiracy theories would be enough for us to have a great night.
8. Tom Brady
We’re not going to lie, Tom Brady is so famous and acclaimed that he almost doesn’t seem like he lives in the same world as us. It’s almost like he’s an alien who can throw a football really well. Still, we’d like to grab a beer and ask about “Deflate Gate.”
7. Lamar Jackson
Lamar Jackson already has an MVP under his belt. He hasn’t stayed as healthy as he’d like in his career and he had a strange moment where it appeared he had to make a run to the bathroom. But he still seems like one of the coolest players in the NFL.
6. Russell Wilson
Even if we just talked about his wife Ciara or the split up between him and the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson seems like a fairly fascinating NFL player. He’s been around for a while and had a lot of wins early in his career. We’d love to learn if he still has enough left in the tank to win another Super Bowl in Denver.
5. Kyler Murray
We don’t know much about Kyler Murray. He seems cool and he’s a very exciting player (when he’s actually on the field). He just signed a new massive contract so we’re hoping he’ll pay for the beers.
4. Joe Burrow
Joe Burrow is a bit of a mystery. He’s cultivated a character called “Joe Shiesty,” a sunglasses-wearing, fur-coat-sporting man about town. He’s wacky enough that he’d probably be a pretty cool hang over a few beers.
3. Derek Carr
You might wonder why Derek Carr has landed so high on this list. Well, this is because we don’t really know much about Derek Carr. The former Fresno State star is an avid musician and has a dog named Bruce Wayne. We want to know about him. A beer would help.
2. Gardner Minshew
The only non-starting quarterback on this list, there might be no player in the NFL as fascinating as Gardner Minshew. The sometimes mullet-wearing, seemingly always muscle-shirt-adorned, wild man of the NFL seems like he’s already at the bar, pounding PBRs so we might as well join him.
1. Josh Allen
The MVP favorite is known for his sense of humor (he recently signed tight end Dawson Knox’s neck at training camp), his refusal to leave a high five hanging, his constant thumbs up, his never-ending enthusiasm, and a childlike enthusiasm for football. There’s nobody we’d rather throw back a beer with. It would probably be a Labatt Blue.
