Conor McGregor Joins Cast of Prime Video’s ‘Road House’ With Jake Gyllenhaal (We Can’t Wait For the Fight Scenes)

Conor McGregor is a multi-talented guy. In addition to being the first Ultimate Fighting Champion in two weight classes simultaneously, the Irish mixed martial artist is also a stylish dresser at the helm of a menswear line (August McGregor) and he has a whiskey line (Proper No. Twelve). Now, he’s stepping out of the octagon and onto the silver screen.

In his first acting role in a feature film, McGregor is joining the cast of the remake of Road House, a 1989 action flick that originally starred Patrick Swayze.

Conor McGregor’s co-stars include none other than Jake Gyllenhaal in addition to Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp, and Bob Menery. The film also features director Doug Liman as well as screenwriters Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.

Deadline described the adrenaline-pumping pic like this: “The new take follows a former UFC fighter (Gyllenhaal) who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.”

It’s still a mystery what McGregor’s role will entail, though sources told Deadline that he has been cast as “an original character and not himself” in the movie. Production kicks off in the Dominican Republic this month and the finished product will land on Prime Video on a date still TBD.

McGregor was reportedly approached to join the film and, after viewing the original Road House, was psyched to get in on the action. We can only hope there’s an extended fight scene involved!
