Interview: Beats Antique Backstage at Club Nokia

Electro-fusion sensations Beats Antique rolled through Los Angeles for a celebrated show at Club Nokia earlier this month, in support of recent release Contraption Vol. II (details here). The Do Lab favorites deliver an enchanting performance that blurs the lines between music and theater, and through four albums and a new EP called Contraption Vol. 2 the Oakland-based trio has a wealth of dynamic creation to pull from.

Beats Antique is currently in the midst of a 35-date tour called “Animale Mechanique,” which concludes with a pilgrimage to Egypt for a legend-in-the-making headlining slot at The Great Convergence festival the pyramids at Giza on December 21st, as well as a year-ending set at the 2012 SnowGlobe Festival. CraveOnline caught up with the group, David Satori, Tommy Cappel and Zoe Jakes, to discuss what they do, the Do Lab and what makes them “the hippie GWAR”. Check it out below!
