Play Vita Games on Your Television with the PS Vita TV

Want to play Vita games but not ready to plunge $199 on a handheld? Sony has something for you.

Sony has announced the PS Vita TV, a new device capable of playing most Vita games on your television. Without the need for a Vita handheld, it has a memory card and game slot so you can play both physical Vita games and digital Vita, PSOne, and PSP games on your television. The PS3’s DualShock 3 will be used as the form of input, hinting at the device’s Bluetooth capabilities.

As a result of PS Vita TV not containing an integrated screen or inputs, its price will be 9,480 Yen ($99~). Those who want a memory card and a DualShock 3 controller along with their purchase can get a special version for 14,980 Yen ($150~) when the device releases in Japan on November 14th. International releases should follow.

While this may may have an impact on the PS Vita handheld’s sales, it can and should increase software sales. Along with the $50 price drop of the Vita, Sony should be in much better shape with its handheld platform in no-time.
