Arctic Monkeys and David Bowie are among the list of nominees for the Mercury Music Prize 2013.
The shortlist for the award, which is given to the artist deemed to have released the best album of the year, also includes the likes of Jake Bugg, Disclosure, James Blake and Laura Marling.
The Arctic Monkeys are the bookies’ favourites to scoop the award for their fifth studio album AM, which has been met by critical acclaim since its release earlier this week, including a perfect score from Crave Online’s Music Editor Johnny Firecloud.
David Bowie is also a frontrunner to pick up the gong for his comeback LP The Next Day, which also received a glowing review from this very website.
