Having a slow day? Australian duo Client Liaison and their new single ‘Feeling’ wants to take you back a decade or three and promises to do so with perfection.
The synth-pop pair out of Melbourne put a modern twist on an 80s inspired sound, the first of three upcoming singles ahead of the band’s debut album.
Client Liaison describes their “dance electric” sound as “International in flavour, cosmopolitan in style”. The pair, Harvey Miller and Monte Morgan, don’t take themselves too seriously and are dead set on their dated appearance.
In a 2012 interview with Acclaim, when the band had released just one single, Morgan claimed the band met during “the diplomatic cocktail circuit of 2009”, however amidst their fantastic imagery is a love of Australian culture.
“We’re sending it up (the Aussie image), but there’s an underlying appreciation of it,” said Miller of the band’s first single in an interview with Noisey, ‘End Of Earth’, release on December 21 last year to mark the end of the Mayan calendar.
“Reject the cultural cringe. Take back our identity from the riff raff who are preoccupied with European history,” Miller says.
Expect to hear more from the guys, but in the meantime see Client Liaison live in Melbourne on Saturday, October 19 at The Toff In Town and Wednesday, October 23 at GoodGod Small Club in Sydney.
