If you love racing simulators, particularly Gran Turismo, the next 12 months are going to be absolutely wild.
Creator of Gran Turismo, Kazunori Yamauchi, has revealed that Gran Turismo 7 is in development. Made better, it’s arriving in 2014 to the PS4, or so he said to TopGear.UK.
This comes as a huge surprise given Gran Turismo 6 isn’t even out yet—it drops on December 7th. The only explanation is that Polyphony Digital split into two separate teams, one to complete a follow-up to Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3, and the other to work on Sony’s latest hardware.
Xbox One’s inclusion of Forza Motorsport 5 in its launch lineup is touted as a huge win for Microsoft, but its main competitor is just around the corner. Will Polyphony Digital be able to deliver on its promise of a next-gen racing simulator? Or is the short development cycle going to cause delays or shortcomings of the game? We’ll seen soon enough as Gran Turismo 7 is scheduled for a Holiday 2014 release.
