Macklemore & Ryan Lewis dominated Spotify’s annual most-streamed list this year, grabbing two of the top three spots in 2013’s most streamed single category.
The Swedish-born streaming service celebrated its 5th birthday in October and recently gathered data from its 24 million international subscribers (combining to listen to 4.5 billion hours of music) to complete this year’s list of top 10s.
“Can’t Hold Us” and “Thrift Shop” claimed first and third on the global Most Streamed tracks, and the world’s No.1 most streamed album, but gave up number one spot to Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” on both the Spotify US single and album charts.
The Macklemore & Ryan Lewis combination also led a strong showing for hip hop artists streamed across the globe, joined in the top 10 by Jay Z, Eminem, Drake and Kanye West.
Daft Punk’s hugely hyped release Random Access Memories enjoyed a ton of Spotify success, as did The Lumineers self-titled debut album and New Zealand teenager Lorde’s recently released hit single “Royals”.

A few fresh names appeared on the UK and Australian Spotify charts.
Bastille collected top 10 UK status in each of the most streamed artists, albums and tracks categories while the Arctic Monkeys (among most streamed artists, album for AM), Ben Howard (album for Every Kingdom) and Naughty Boy (track for the single “La La La”) each made appearances.
In Australia, Lorde’s “Royals” polled at No.3 on most streamed track while Flume‘ (Holdin’ On) and Bastille (Pompeii) finished out the top 10. A couple of surprise additions also found their way onto most streamed albums list- Of Monsters and Men (My Head Is An Animal) and Ed Sheeran (+-).
