USA Today reported this morning that ESPN will announce they will air the January 6 BCS National Championship Game across six networks.
In order to avoid competing against itself and to provide fans a multitude of options, ESPN is not keeping to a single conventional style. The game features the No. 1 undefeated Florida State Seminoles and the No. 2 Auburn Tigers. Depending on which team you are rooting for and what kind of coverage you prefer, there will be options for every fan.
The regular ESPN flagship channel will feature the conventional broadcast with the always top-notch Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit.
ESPN 2 will feature “BCS Title Talk” with guest hosts. These will include college coaches and analysts.
ESPNEWS will show the game from alternative camera angles and use guest hosts to give a more in-depth look at each play.
ESPN Classic will lose the announcers altogether and provide a “stadium experience”. The only sound will be taken from the stadium’s public announcers and crowd noise.
ESPN Goal Line will use the radio audio overlaid on the traditional broadcast. In addition, it will feature a “BCS Command Center” that will split the screen to show current and previous plays.
ESPN 3 will air team specific coverage. Viewers can choose the Auburn or Florida State coverage which will provide coach & player specific camera shots as well as live shots of other fans’ parties.
The BCS National Championship game kickoffs at 8:30 EST on January 6, 2014.
