Listen: Foster The People Are Back With ‘Coming Of Age’

Foster The People have dropped the first single, ‘Coming Of Age’, from their upcoming sophomore release Supermodel.

Frontman Mark Foster said late last year that the band’s new material would “not be the record people expect”, however ‘Coming Of Age’ represents more of a progression from where the ‘Pumped Up Kicks’-led Torches (2011) left off.

In a recent interview with Triple J on Tuesday, Foster revealed ‘Coming Of Age’ was actually the last track written for the album and represents the maturation he experienced last year.

“I went through a lot of changes last year – I guess it was the quiet after the storm, when we were touring and when the band was growing, everything happened so far, so for a lot of it I had to ignore my feelings and focus on what was in front of me,” Foster said. “So when everything quieted down, i started to get some perspective on the things that maybe I didn’t see before.”

Accompanying the new tune is a time-lapse video clip that depicts of the Supermodel album artwork being plastered along the face of a Los Angeles building.

The 2011 debut by Foster The People was a worldwide smash; selling two million copies. Supermodel will follow on March 14.
