10 Titanfall Tips and Tricks to Improve Your Score
1. Grapple a wall for a custom vantage point
While wallrunning you can choose to jab your knife into the wall and plant yourself. All you need to do is hit left trigger if using a controller or right-click on keyboard & mouse. Not only does it make you look cool, but it can be an effective tool for dealing with enemies.
2. Killing minions isn't a bad thing
You may be under the impression that killing non-player characters is a waste of time. That just isn't so. Minions provide valuable points upon death, accelerating the time you have to wait until you can call in your next Titan.
Keep in mind that they are worth less than player characters, though, so don't make hunting them down your primary objective.
3. Rodeo like a cowboy
Many newcomers are quick to pull out their rocket launchers to take out enemy Titans. Little do they know that the best way to take one down is to hop onto its head. When you do this, you'll enter a rodeo mode where you pull a hatch open and begin unloading on the Titan. If supporting enemies don't deal with you quickly the Titan pilot will have to eject before causing more mayhem.
4. Smart pistol your grenades for instant detonation
If you have the Smart Pistol in your loadout, you can lock onto thrown grenades to create a grenade launcher effect of sorts. Want to clear a room? Why wait for a grenade to explode when you can blow it up at the press of a button?
5. Titans are critical to success, protect them
Titans are the powerhouses of your team, but are vulnerable to being flanked. If you can successfully work in tandem with the Titans on your team, they will live long and overwhelm the enemy. You'll find that the teams that best protect their Titans are the teams that have a lot of success.
6. Regenerate your shields
Titans don't have as much health as you think. Their longevity comes from a regenerating shield. The catch is that the Titan must remain out of combat for a couple of seconds in order for the shield to recharge. To get the most out of your Titan, pop into combat, unleash some fury, find cover, regenerate, and then get back to business.
7. Use your special ability often
Your tactical ability by default will be the Cloak, but you'll unlock quite a few others. Make sure that you use these often and purposefully. In the case of the Cloak, you can use it to get to an offensive or defensive vantage point without being spotted. Or, you can use it to get behind a Titan before hopping on for a quick rodeo.
8. Show trees some love
Those trees aren't on the battlefield just to make the map look good. You can climp on top of your nearest tree like a Wood Elf and use it to take out enemies unsuspectingly. Before you camp there too long, read our next tip.
9. Stay on the move
This is a tip that applies to any shooter out there. Killing a player reveals where you are and attracts a lot of attention. Learning how to carefully weave in and out of buildings to remain unpredictable is a key to surprising your opponent and keeping them in-check.
10. Use your Titan as a bodyguard
As tought in the tutorial, you can exit your Titan at any time. When you do this, the Titan will follow you around and support you. While being in a Titan provides a lot more survivability, it also makes you a very noticeable target. By getting out, you can use it as a distraction while you capture an objective. Or, if you have Nuclear Eject equipped, you can plant the Titan in a hot area like a tactical nuke and watch the bodies go flying.
