SXSW 2014 VIDEO: Ethan Hawke on Predestination and Boyhood

SXSW 2014: Predestination – Ethan Hawke Interview by CraveOnline

Ethan Hawke is one of the biggest stars of SXSW 2014, headlining not one but two highly anticipated movies. The first, Predestination, is a sci-fi thriller adapted from Robert A. Heinlein’s short story “All You Zombies,” and it’s a progressive head trip with more twists than a pretzel shop. The second, Boyhood, is the result of a 12-year collaboration with his Before Midnight director Richard Linklater, and required Ethan Hawke to schedule all of his other movies around it for over a decade, since the film follows the growth of a young boy to adulthood, featuring the same actor, growing literally older with every passing scene.

In this exclusive interview, Ethan Hawke explains why he loves movies that challenge audiences, the pleasure he gets from meeting people who are passionate about films, learning to love genre cinema from Joe Dante on the set of The Explorers, and the 12-year logistical nightmare that was Boyhood. (He already misses it.)
