SXSW Hit and Run Kills Two, Injures Dozens

Austin Police have confirmed that two people were killed, multiple people were injured and the driver is in custody in a hit and run that happened Wednesday night in Austin, TX at the SXSW festival.

At the venue Mohawk on Red River, just before a Tyler, The Creator performance, festival attendees waiting to get into the House of Vans were reportedly hit by a car. The driver allegedly fled the scene immediately. Unconfirmed reports are currently consuming Twitter.

Update:  TheMusic.com.au, reporting from the police press conference, state that Police chief Art Acevedo identified the driver as a black male, the sole passenger in a silver Toyota. The car, pursued by police, went through a gas station and went the wrong way up one-way street. The driver dove through a barrier at a high speed at 12:30am local time, striking two groups of people, a moped and a van. Two people riding the moped were reportedly killed. 

Acevedo reportedly that the driver has been apprehended and charged with two counts of capital murder and 23 charges of aggravated assault.
