Since 1997, Koji Igarashi has worked on the Castlevania series. While Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was his first, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be his last
Koji Igarashi has announced that on Saturday he left Konami after over 16 years of service. Speaking to IGN he said:
I’ve decided to break out on my own to have the freedom to make the kind of games I really want to make — the same kind I think fans of my past games want as well.
Igarashi has spent most of his career working on Castlevania games, limited to the scope of only one IP. He has a vested interest in action-adventure games, and based upon his quote we might just see a Castlevania competitor in a few years.
While this opens a new door for a veteran game producer, it also signals the start of a new chapter for Castlevania.
