Watch: Arcade Fire’s Set Crashed by Julian Casablancas… Wearing a Bobblehead

Being a rock star allows certain moments of ridiculous fun, particularly onstage. While overseas for Lollapalooza Argentina, Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas decided to crash the opening of Arcade Fire‘s set in goofball style.

As you can see below, the band’s set was briefly interrupted when frontman Win Butler noticed that someone else was wearing his giant bobblehead mask. “What the fuck is this,” he asked, before feigning an apology to the crowd, which became ecstatic once they discovered who was under the mastk. Watch below

It’s pretty clear that the band was aware of Julian’s planned interruption ahead of time, as the band has duped the audience with fake masks and impersonators before – particularly during their tremendous KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas show last year. Even more, the song they were playing was the new track “Normal Person,” the studio version of which opens with Butler interacting with a crowd, thanking everyone for coming in an informal atmosphere. The moment is recreated in live performance, but in a more apologetic bend after a bit of shenanigans.
