Jay Z’s Made in America Festival Expands to Los Angeles

Jay Z has big plans for the 2014 festival season. Hova just expanded his Budweiser Made In America Festival to Los Angeles during the 2014 Labor Day weekend, making it the first American festival to run simultaneously on both coasts. Lineup announcements and additional festival details are expected shortly.

The two-day music festival was born in Philadelphia on Labor Day weekend 2012 (check out our recap of last year’s event), and the eclectic mix of artists on the bill defied the new-festival growing pains enough to make the production successful enough to expand. Live Nation will produce both the Philadelphia and Los Angeles two-day music festivals, delivering must-see performances on both coasts. The LA incarnation will take place on the steps of city hall and in the surrounding Grand Park, while the Philadelphia festival will return to Ben Franklin Parkway. Tickets to both events are now on sale at the festival’s official site.

The MIA festival’s aims to aid local communities has been a success in its two-year run. As a result of last year’s “Budweiser Made In America” Festival, United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey is investing $300,000 in education and talent development initiatives to enhance cradle-to-career education that ensures all students graduate high school college–and career-ready and equips individuals with the job skills and training they need to secure work that provides a family-sustaining income.
