For the second year in a row, Nintendo won’t be holding a live press conference at E3 2014.
Despite it being the biggest gaming event of the year, Nintendo has once again opted out of showing off its software on stage at E3 2014, instead opting to host an online “Digital Event”.
According to the company, the broadcast will “reveal and provide further detail about the gaming experiences on the way for Nintendo platforms in 2014 and beyond.” It will also host a Super Smash Bros. U invitational tournament, which will take place at the show and be livestreamed online.
This is a risky decision for Nintendo to make considering the poor fortune of the Wii U, and its refusal to hold a press conference will inevitably lead to less press coverage. With the low sales Nintendo’s latest console is currently experiencing, the company could’ve really used its stage time to show off what it’s got up its sleeve in 2015. Let’s just hope that the Big N has got something up its sleeve…
