E3 2014: Steelseries Announces Sentry Eye-Tracker and Stratus XL Mobile Gaming Controller

Steelseries has debuted two new products to kick off this year’s E3 show, and both continue its gaming-focused heritage.

First is the Steelseries Sentry, a one of a kind product. This eye-tracking device becomes your virtual coach, watching your eye movements to determine how often you fixate on the screen. For competitive games such as Dota 2 and League of Legends, this could be a game-changer. It’s one thing to watch a replay and see what you did wrong in terms of movement and execution, but until now you’ve never been able to see the physical mistakes you make.

The second product is aimed at the gamer who likes to spend time on mobile devices. Steelseries has a controller, called the Stratus, already on the market, but the new Stratus XL offers a more traditional controller shape. It’ll be compatible with a wide range of Apple products, including the iPhone and iPad. Its shape and design incorporates many of the elements gamers look for from a controller, including responsive triggers and an ergonomic shape. It’ll even have a 40 hour battery life making it an optimal choice for gaming on the go.

I must say, I’m excited to try out both of these devices. I dabble in MOBAs and RTS games and have always had a problem of fixating on the screen. And really, who has the time and money for a personal trailer? I’ll take this virtual solution. Meanwhile, the controller looks gorgeous. Final Fantasy Tactics on the go? Yes, please.

You can check out what both devices look like in the gallery below.

Steelseries recently partnered with EA for some new The Sims 4 branded peripherals. Be sure to check those out as well.
