Video Premiere: The Unlikely Candidates’ ‘Howl’ Strands The Cowboy in The City

Texas indie rockers The Unlikely Candidates are back with a new video for their single “Howl,” premiering today exclusively on CraveOnline.

It’s not often that teenage felonies yield such promising results. Several years ago, singer Kyle Morris and guitarist Cole Male were booked on separate accounts of grand theft auto and ended up in a Ft. Worth juvenile detention center together when they were just 14. The two became fast friends and as their brush with the law came to an end, they decided to focus their energies elsewhere…music. Ten years and 3 additional band members later, the Fort Worth-based quintet has honed a refined indie-rock sensibility, as evidenced on their Follow My Feet EP (grab it on iTunes).

Kyle offers his own introduction to the video, which features a cowboy who finds himself resorting to some artificial equestrian stimuli as he longs for the days of riding the open frontier on his horse: ‘“Enjoy ‘Howl,’ our meditation on how the blinding power of love can lift you above the burdens of humanity, and this cheeky video for it,” Morris invites. “If you are digging this, we will have more sauntering sing-alongs to debut in the upcoming months!”

While rocking Bonnaroo, the Firefly Music Festival and a tour-ending run with Riot Fest in September, the band have been working on new material, with an eye on 2015 for release. Keep up with the guys on Facebook, Twitter and their official site.
