The results regarding Suarez’s punishment for his biting of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini will be revealed on Thursday (August 14th).
The 27-year-old striker was punished by FIFA for biting Chiellini during Uruguay’s World Cup match against Italy, with the organisation banning him for four months from “all football-related activity”. However, Suarez believes that this punishment is “excessive”, despite him having a history of similar incidents, and has therefore launching an appeal to reduce his ban.
The striker is moving to Barcelona next season after signing a £75 million contract to transfer away from former club Liverpool, and this ban would see him miss a large portion of the La Liga club’s season, with him previously expected to return to action just in time for Barcelona’s ‘El Clasico’ match against Real Madrid.

His legal team are reportedly arguing that he should be allowed to train with his new club, and that his suspension should be limited to international football, given that the incident occurred during an international game. The success of the appeal will be revealed on Thursday at 14:00 BST, though details will not be released until a later date.
Suarez has already apologised for his actions and has been publicly forgiven by Chiellini, who claimed that he also believed that the length of the ban, which is the largest in World Cup history, was also too harsh. Whether or not this impacts upon the international sport tribunal CAS’s decision remains to be seen.
