Sturridge Could Be Out for England’s Euro Qualifier

The England squad might have been dealt another blow as Daniel Sturridge could potentially be sitting out of their European Qualifier in Switzerland.

The Liverpool forward picked up an injury on the training ground on Friday (September 5th) ahead of England’s match against the Swiss on Monday (September 8th). The 28-year-old was also seen limping off the pitch in the late stages of England’s poor 1-0 victory against Norway.

The official Twitter account of the England national team addressed Sturridge’s injury, writing: “Daniel Sturridge felt an injury in training this morning and will go for a scan this afternoon. He will then be assessed by England medics.”

The qualifying matches determine which teams will solidify their spot in the Euro 2016 tournament. Considering England’s lacklustre World Cup 2014 campaign, they will certainly be looking to throw everything they’ve got at their opponents to ensure they make their way into the next international tournament, though their unconvincing performance against Norway was a sign that coach Roy Hodgson has still got a lot of work to do if he wishes to make his squad world class.

Gary Cahill also reportedly sat out of training after picking up an ankle injury, though he is expected to be fully fit for the qualifier against Switzerland on Monday .
