Former Doctor Who actor Matt Smith has joined the cast of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the upcoming movie adaptation of Seth-Grahame Smith’s parody novel.
Matt Smith is reportedly pegged to play Mr. Collins, a parson who proposes to protagonist Elizabeth Bennet, played by Lily James. The movie will follow in the footsteps of the book, which puts a spin on the well-known Pride and Prejudice romantic tale by introducing an undead horde into the fold.

The film, which was struck with multiple delays in filming, is finally set to go into production on September 24th, with Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Douglas Booth and Bella Heathcote set to star alongside Smith and James. Charlie St. Cloud director Burr Steers will be at the helm of the project.
Smith’s most recent film outing was in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut Lost River, which was critically panned by critics and met with a mixed reception at Cannes. Following its divisive reception at the film festival, Warner Bros. reportedly considered selling its distribution rights to another studio, though it eventually slumped into anonymity following its May 2014 release.
Smith will also be playing a major role in 2015’s Terminator: Genisys, which is set to be the first installment in a planned new trilogy for the franchise.
