Wayne Rooney Insists Manchester United Will Be Successful Again

Wayne Rooney has insisted that Manchester United will reclaim their place atop the Premier League in the future, after a poor run of form under Louis van Gaal and David Moyes before him.

United have been heavily criticised following their 5-3 defeat to Leicester City, after throwing away a 1-3 lead due to a lacklustre defensive display, an issue which Van Gaal has seemingly failed to address during the season’s transfer window.

Taking to his Facebook page, Rooney addressed fans’ concerns, writing: “There seems to be a lot of people who have written us off because of Sunday’s result but I don’t see it that way.

“When I look around our dressing room and see the quality we have and the manager’s unbelievable attention to detail, I have no doubts this team will be successful.”

United certainly looked like a stronger team in the first half of their match against Leicester, with new signing Di Maria in particular looking to add a great deal of flair to the team. However, yet another weak defensive performance saw them conceding 5 goals throughout the course of the match, which will only serve to dampen the squad’s confidence even more.
