Noel Gallagher has said that his brother Liam Gallagher should go solo following the disbandment of Beady Eye.
The elder Gallagher brother has had much more success than Oasis’ loudmouthed ex-frontman since the iconic ’90s band split up in 2009, with Noel’s solo career having led to him performing at a number of large, sold-out venues, while Liam’s band Beady Eye struggled to remain in the spotlight. Despite this, Noel insists that Beady Eye’s failure doesn’t bring him any joy, telling Q magazine that he was “very f***ing sad” when the band parted ways.

Noel said: “I know they really wanted to make it work. I wanted it to work for them. I was out with Gem Archer the other night. The vibe I’m getting is that it was a shock, although not completely surprising.”
The band’s demise was announced by Liam Gallagher on his Twitter page, after middling sales of their output and a mediocre critical reception to their two released albums. Noel also commented on what direction he believes Liam should go in now that Beady Eye has come to an end, saying: “I’m amazed Liam has chucked it in, but he won’t stay out of the limelight for long. I think Liam should make a solo record – put his balls on the line, put his name up in lights and go for it.”
Liam Gallagher had a tough 2014, after reports of infidelity led to him rightfully dishing out a huge paycheck to the mother of their love-child, followed by the split from his estranged wife Nicole Appleton, and concluding with the disbandment of Beady Eye. Liam has yet to reveal what his plans are for the future, or whether he’ll make music again, and while the rumour mill continues to spin regarding the potential reuniting of Oasis, it seems that Noel is happy playing with his High Flying Birds for the time being.
