Cologne Striker Apologises to Goat Following Odd Celebration

Cologne striker Anthony Ujah has issued an apology to the goat he grabbed by the horns after scoring a goal for his team.

The odd celebration came after the Nigerian striker scored in the 82nd minute against Eintracht Frankfurt, putting his team up 4-1. After netting the goal, Ujah decided the necessary course of action was for him to run towards the touchline before grabbing the club’s mascot, a goat named Hennes, by the horns and pulling him with no small degree of force.

It is uncertain where Ujah was hoping to go with this celebration, but the goat fortunately escaped the bizarre incident unharmed. Ujah later posted a photo of his celebration to Instagram, accompanied by the caption: “Apologies to Hennes for my hard celebration.”

Perhaps Ujah running to the sidelines and yanking on this poor goat’s head would have been more understandable if the goal he was celebrating had put his team in the lead, but Cologne were already winning 3-1 prior to his goat-tugging, deeming it a tad unnecessary.

Fortunately, the goat is said to be “good condition” following the incident, presumably because his handler manager to prevent Ujah from running away with him into the sunset, with the striker grappling with the goat for a handful of seconds before eventually giving up and leaving the bovid in peace. The goat has not issued a statement in response to Ujah’s apology.
