Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City PS4 and Xbox One Remasters On Their Way?

PS4 and Xbox One remastered editions of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City are reportedly in development.

Rocksteady’s two previous entries in the Arkham series will allegedly make their way to current-gen consoles with the performance upgrades you’d expect from remasters, according to a source speaking to IGN Italy.

Rocksteady hasn’t confirmed whether or not this will be the case, though the source claims that Arkham Origins, which was developed by Warner Bros. Montreal after Rocksteady took a break from the series, will not be available as part of the collection. This could be an indication that Rocksteady hopes fans will forget about the prequel, which received a notably weaker reception than that of its predecessors.

Batman: Arkham Knight is set to be the next release in the Arkham series, which Rocksteady has claimed will be the concluding chapter of the story arch. It’s likely that the remastered editions of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City will release before the sequel, which will make its way to store shelves for the PS4 and Xbox One on June 2nd, 2015, while the PC version of the game will arrive at a later date.

The exclusion of Arkham Origins could suggest that Rocksteady is looking to retcon the game from the Arkham universe, or that the studio and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment believed it best to exclude it from the bundle due to its lesser quality, or that it may have presented more issues for the dev given that they are currently hard at work on concluding the Arkham series.
