Three members of American metal outfit Mastodon have portrayed members of the Free Folk in the latest episode of the Game Of Thrones television series. Mastodon’s Brann Dailor, Bill Kelliher and Brent Hinds have acted as wildlings in the episode titled “Hardhome”, which premiered on Sunday night, 31st May.
In a SPOILER FILLED press release from Reprise Records (via Brooklyn Vegan), Mastodon’s Brann Dailor says the experience of filming the show in Northern Ireland was amplified by the immense goriness and, well, the food on set.
“It was such an incredible experience to be on set as extras for our collective favorite show Game Of Thrones and [SPOILER ALERT] to be wildlings murdered and then brought back to life by White Walkers was beyond amazing,” Dailor says.
“I watched my best friends Brent and Bill, murdered right in front of me as I myself was stabbed in the stomach and had my throat slit multiple times, and I didn’t mind at all.
“It made me love being in Mastodon even more. We are more than privileged and honored to have been a part of one of the greatest stories ever told on film, and the catering wasn’t bad either.”
Mastodon were invited to appear on the show by its executive producer, Dan Weiss, who is a fan of the band. The band had previously contributed an original song called White Walker (below) to the Catch The Throne Vol. 2 edition of the Game Of Thrones mixtape.
