One-hit wonders are just about as an important part of music history as the iconic rock stars. The short-lived successes of those we will inevitably forget offer a balance to those who we remember, standing as proof that “making it” takes more than recording a single hit song.
From Eden’s Crush to Lady Sovereign to Cali Swag District, looking back at the this decade’s one-hit wonders so far, there are standouts of acts to love and acts to hate. While Crazy Town’s “Butterfly” seems like the perfect example of a flash in the pan, Gotye made a conscious decision to step out of the spotlight and might well return yet someday soon.
