This is the Song That Launched Apple Music

Apple Music has now officially launched, with the iOS 8.4 update bringing with it the brand new streaming service. Shortly following the launch of the brand new platform, Zane Lowe jump-started the first ever Beats 1 radio broadcast with the relatively unknown track ‘City’ by Manchester band Spring King.

While you may have been forgiven for thinking that U2 may have been given the honors (especially considering that every new profile created in Apple Music will automatically follow the Irish band), or maybe even something from Beats co-founder Dr. Dre, Lowe decided to pick a fresh band to launch the brand new Internet radio station.

Beats 1, which will be a round-the-clock radio available to Apple Music subscribers, will boast sets from renowned DJs around the world.

Apple Music costs $9.99 for a monthly subscription to the service, though Apple is offering a three-month free trial to encourage iOS users to try it out. An Android version of the app will launch this fall.
