Deadpool Threatens Our Collective Sphincters in New Teaser

Teaser trailers for teaser trailers are evil… usually. The typical rigmarole is to release a few seconds of a trailer that has already been prepared as a way to trick social media into hyping a movie twice, without any extra effort. But when a movie like Deadpool comes along and makes this typically obnoxious practice fun and special, you have to give it credit.

The full trailer for Deadpool debuts tomorrow, but for now you can enjoy this witty new video in which our antihero, played by Ryan Reynolds (Green Lantern, sadly), makes fun of movie trailer voice-over nonsense, gives 20th Century Fox a poke for ruining his character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine,  and seems to have a bit of trouble smoking a pipe. And for once, and possibly only this once, we recommend you actually watch it instead of simply waiting for the full preview.

The film is directed by Tim Miller and co-stars Morena Baccarin (Firefly) as Copycat, Gina Carano (Haywire) as Angel Dust, T.J. Miller (Big Hero 6) as Weasel, Ed Skrein (The Transported Refueled) as Ajax, Brianna Hildebrand (Prism) as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Andre Tricoteux (Warcraft) as Colossus, and Leslie Uggams (Roots) as Blind Al.

Deadpool hits theaters on February 12, 2016… just in time for Valentine’s Day, for some reason.
