When you’re presented with the words “face” and “morph” your first thought likely consists of those useless apps that you download before promptly regretting your decision, which take an image of your face and make it appear fatter/older than usual. However, artist Pedro Berg Johnsen has taken the rather tacky concept of face morphing and used it to create images that are quite beautiful in their own right, combining the facial features of various actors, actresses and musicians in order to create brand new, fictional humans who rival their real-life counterparts in terms of attractiveness.
It’s an odd skill, but one that is oddly compelling to behold. Johnsen, who is known as ThatNordicGuy, creates entirely new faces by mish-mashing those that we already know, essentially forming hybrid celebrities that look disconcertingly lifelike. Some require a double-take to ensure that their faces have even been changed – for instance, the Kristen Stewart/Emma Watson image – while morphs such as the Arnold Schwarzenegger / Colin Farrell image appear to create new people entirely.
