The Walking Dead Season 6 Promotes Three To Series Regular

Last season on The Walking Dead, the series foreshadowed the full time return of Lennie James as Morgan Jones as he slowly caught up to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) over the course of the season. But James isn’t the only new cast member next season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, three of last season’s supporting cast members have also been promoted to the main cast. Tovah Feldshuh, Alexandra Breckenridge, and Austin Nichols have all gotten the coveted bump this year. Feldshuh plays Deanna Monroe, the leader of the Alexandria safe zone, while Breckenridge portrays Jessie Anderson, the formerly married woman whose abusive husband was killed by Rick in the fifth season finale. Nichols’ role is Spencer Monroe, the last surviving son of Deanna.

As noted by THR, that brings the full time cast of The Walking Dead to 18. That includes Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Michael Cudlitz, Sonequa Martin-Green, Alanna Masterson, Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, and Ross Marquand.

That is definitely not going to last, as The Walking Dead TV series and the comic book have a history of killing off lead characters. But just because a character died in the comics doesn’t necessarily mean that they will also perish on the TV series. Kirkman and the other executive producers have remixed the story before, and they’ve allowed some characters a long reprieve from death. Others were not so lucky…

The sixth season of The Walking Dead will return to AMC on Sunday, October 11.
