FIFA’s Ethics Committee are reportedly launching a separate investigation into the dealings of president Sepp Blatter, along with Michel Platini, Jerome Valcke & Franz Beckenbauer.

The news was reported by Sky Sports in the below tweet, and follows the announcement that FIFA would investigate more of the company’s senior officials following the corruption scandal that threw the footballing world into disarray.

FIFA announced that there would be greater transparency for ethics proceedings, with a meeting in Zurich on Tuesday leading to the FIFA Executive Committee approving “a set of important measures to further strengthen its governance and increase the transparency of Ethics Committee proceedings while reiterating its commitment to necessary reforms already underway,” a post on FIFA’s official website revealed.

While there is skepticism regarding how fruitful an internal investigation from FIFA will be, the organisation has stated that they want to improve their reputation, and therefore greater transparency is necessary. “In future, it will be possible to confirm the opening of proceedings against leading representatives of world football on request,” the Ethics Committee stated during the Zurich meeting.
