Fox Debuts New Posters For The X-Files Revival

The truth is still out there…or at least that’s what Fox is hoping for! After a 13 year absence (not counting The X-Files: I Want To Believe movie that no one seems to like), Mulder and Scully will be back in action early next year!

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are reprising their iconic roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively. But when The X-Files reopens, both Mulder and Scully are in very different mindsets regarding their stint in the FBI and their relationship with each other. Mitch Pileggi is also back as Walter Skinner, and get this, Skinner is still the Assistant Director of the FBI. The man hasn’t gotten a promotion in over a decade!

And because Fox has made no attempt to hide him, William B. Davis’ Cigarette Smoking Man is on the first of the new X-Files promo posters that were released today. Hopefully, the show will explain how Davis’ character survived being incinerated in the series finale of The X-Files…which we all saw! So don’t even try to retcon that, Chris Carter!

Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood are also coming back as The Lone Gunmen, despite the apparent deaths of their characters in the ninth season of The X-Files. But since we never actually saw the Lone Gunmen die, there’s some room for bringing them back for another appearance. Fox hasn’t leaked any pictures of the Lone Gunmen from the set of the new X-Files, but Fox did release this new promo poster of Mulder and Scully.

Finally, the last promo poster is a stylish image that recalls the original catchphrase of The X-Files: Trust No One. It’s a lesson that Mulder and Scully have never quite learned, and the y will face more betrayal when they are inevitably drawn back together on a case that will make Mulder question everything that he ever believed in.

The X-Files six-episode revival miniseries will begin on Sunday, January 24, before airing its second episode on Monday, January 25 as part of a two-night premiere.
