Aussies don’t go down without a fight, even when they’re up against a serious bout of hiccups, something seven-year-old Ethan Hall knows all too well.
Late last week, Hall had the honour of performing the Australian national anthem before an Australian Baseball League game in Adelaide, but his body had other ideas, sending him literally hiccuping through the entire performance.
Footage of Hall’s performance (below) has emerged, and shows him soldiering on as the players and officials around him try to hold back their laughter. Hall, of course, gets a rapturous applause after making it through the song, with plenty of high-fives from the players as well.
Hall’s mother, Kylie, has told the ABC her son was hiccuping about 24 hours before his performance, but they disappeared during the car ride to the game. “They’d actually gone during the drive and he thought it was fantastic,” she says. “He was about to say ‘they have gone mum’ and we said ‘don’t say anything’, we didn’t want him to jinx it.”
Ladies and gentlemen, watch a true patriot in action, below.
