Exclusive Preview | Hellboy and the BPRD: 1953 – The Witch Tree

Mike Mignola’s signature creation is closing out 2015 with a blast to the past!

Hellboy was the world’s greatest paranormal investigator…right up until he died and ended up in Hell. But in 1953, Hellboy was still young and in the prime of his life as a member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense!

This Wednesday, November 25, Dark Horse Comics is releasing a new one-shot: Hellboy and the BPRD: 1953 – The Witch Tree & Rawhead and Bloody Bones. The issue features two stories of Hellboy’s travels across England alongside his adoptive father, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm.

CraveOnline has an exclusive preview from the first story, The Witch Tree, as Hellboy and Professor Bruttenholm hear about the apparent return of Boudicca’s Hag and the grim fate of the man assigned to guard her bones.

The second story will pit Hellboy against two “of the most horrible figures of British folklore,” Rawhead Rex and Bloody Bones.

Mignola provided the cover for Hellboy and the BPRD: 1953 – The Witch Tree & Rawhead and Bloody Bones, and he also wrote the stories for artist Ben Stenbeck and colorist Dave Stewart.

Don’t miss Hellboy and the BPRD: 1953 – The Witch Tree & Rawhead and Bloody Bones this Wednesday, at comic book stores everywhere!
