Coldplay has been tapped to play the gargantuan Super Bowl 50 halftime show, according to The Wall Street Journal. The Big Game is sheduled for February 7th, while Coldplay’s new LP A Head Full of Dreams arrives tomorrow.
This should be exciting news to that hearty cross-section of America who paint their faces and go apeshit for sporting events yet also get really emotional for songs like “Yellow” and “The Scientist”. It’s been speculated that other famous friends of the band will appear during their performance as well.
WSJ additionally notes that Coldplay will also reporting the band will withhold their new album from the Spotify service, though contrary to the likes of Taylor Swift and Adele, it’ll still be available on services without a free tier like Apple Music. Additionally, Amazon Prime Members are able to stream the record for free on Prime Music.
