Stella Maeve Is The Magicians’ Leading Lady

Stella Maeve has a varied resume of acting gigs – from staring in TV’s Golden Boy and Chicago P.D. to film roles in Transamerica and The Runaways (with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning), her most recent project has been appearing in the Syfy series The Magicians. While Maeve said she loves working on both mediums, she admitted that she has a soft spot for film, and admires quite a few heavyweight film actors.

CraveOnline: Tell us about The Magicians.

Stella Maeve: It’s the story of two best friends who have grown up together and have always had this thing for magic, and as they’re entering their 20s they find out magic is real.

You’ve dabbled in both film and television… is there one you prefer over the other?

Nowadays good material is good material. It’s all over the spectrum. It’s hard to answer that. I have a love for film, and getting to shoot on film is very rare and awesome when it happens.

And I also love theatre.

You’ve worked with some pretty big names in Hollywood- who do you look up to in the business and why?

If I could be the female Christian Bale or Tom Hardy, that would be such a great life goal. I think they’re incredible. Cate Blanchett is brilliant as well.

Any desires to work behind the camera?

What a great question. Sure. I love cinematography.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

Maybe that I’m a musician. But I’m not a signer. I play bass and drums.
