Delroy Lindo Is Dominic Fortune In Marvel’s Most Wanted

Perhaps the only thing more unexpected than Dominic Fortune’s introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the actor who will portray him: Delroy Lindo!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lindo has signed on to Marvel’s Most Wanted as Dominic Fortune, an adventurer and mercenary who was created by Howard Chaykin in 1975. Dominic Fortune was unique among Marvel heroes in that his adventures were primarily set in the ‘20s and ’30s during the Great Depression. Later stories depicted a greatly aged Dominic Fortune in the present day Marvel Universe.

Fortune’s real name was Duvid Jerome Fortunov, and he was depicted as a Caucasian man in the comics.

Lindo is best known for his roles in Malcolm X, Crooklyn, Get Shorty, The Cider House Rules, Gone in 60 Seconds, and The Chicago Code. The MCU’s Dominic Fortune reportedly has the same background as his comic book counterpart, and Lindo is about three decades younger than his character should be, given his age. But that longevity may be explained within the series itself.

Marvel’s Most Wanted is a spinoff of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. starring Adrianne Palicki as Bobbi Morse a.k.a. Mockingbird and Nick Blood as her partner and ex-husband, Lance Hunter. In the comics, Dominic Fortune joined Mockingbird’s anti-terrorist organization, which may account for his inclusion in this series. So far, ABC has only committed to a pilot episode, which will be filmed later this year.
