Canadians Nominated For Grammy Awards

The Grammy Awards aren’t just for our neighbors south of the border – several Canadians have been nominated for the coveted music prize, including Drake, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd.

Musician CFCF is nominated for best remixed recording, and Toronto flutist Ron Korb is up for best new age album. In all, Canadians have 20 nominations going into tonight’s broadcast (CP).

“The world music category in the Grammys tends to always go to a singer and even the nominations, it tends to be like Ladysmith Mambazo or Angelique Kidjo or people like that,” Korb said in a phone interview with The Canadian Press. “They’re all great but I guess with new age I have had some sales history in that genre before, and so I thought maybe some people from the old days would remember me, and they did.”

The 58th Grammy Awards will take place on February 15th at 8pm and will be hosted by LL Cool J, with performances by Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Adele, Diplo, Skrillex, Pitbull, Lady Gaga, and fellow Canadian The Weeknd.
