Sunderland footballer and former England international Adam Johnson has admitted one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of grooming, Bradford Crown Court heard today.
The player stood trial today after being hit with the charges last year, with the 28-year-old pleading guilty to two of his charges, though denied a further two charges.
The grooming charge Johnson pleaded guilty to involved “kissing and touching the victim’s body in sexual way”, with him denying two further charges of sexual activity. The victim was a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
Johnson will now need to sign the sex offenders register following the charges, though it’s not yet clear what punishment he will face. Sunderland have yet to release a statement regarding the charge.
