Chicago’s ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ Festival Is An Actual Thing

The institution that is John Hughes’ 1986 film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off will be celebrated in fine form by the (entire) city of Chicago for the film’s 30th anniversary this year.

Ferris Fest, to be held over three whole days in May, will feature a screening of the film at the John and Nancy Hughes Theater with a Q&A with the movie stars, an official tour of all the filming locations, and – hilariously – a recreation of Ferris’ bedroom.

It will all be topped off with – of course – an actual, living, breathing, clanging parade through the city streets to imitate the glorious parade sequence from the film itself. (See below.)

Some of us may struggle to get to the other side of the world in time, but die-hard attendees can pick and choose from all the activities, with a full package costing $300 USD, for the Ferris fiends among you.
