You may have noticed that every image on our homepage is partially greened out. Here’s why, hot off the wires:
Los Angeles, CA (March 8, 2016) – Evolve Media LLC, a lifestyle publisher focused on enthusiast and intent-driven publishing, in partnership with The Girls’ Lounge, announced a campaign designed to “March Forward” efforts to close the wage gap. Every year publishers talk about Women’s History Month, but this year Evolve Media wants to bring the wage gap to the forefront of conversation through the “March Forward” campaign.
From March 8th to 11th, every image across the homepage of Evolve Media’s 26 properties will be 19% obscured by green — the color of money and representative of the 81 cents women earn for every dollar a man earns. With this campaign Evolve Media is directly illustrating what 81% of a 100% contribution looks like.
“This March, we are honoring women’s history month by considering the current role of women in the workforce,” said Jen Catto, Senior Vice President of Integrated Marketing at Evolve Media. “We are in the business of creating conversations, and our hope is to inspire our 86 million readers to start talking about the wage gap. It’s a small gesture with broad implications, because whether you’re a man or a woman, the wage gap impacts us all.”
Located at the bottom of every Evolve Media website will be an Adhesion ad unit providing readers with insight behind the campaign and additional reading material focused on the wage gap such as studies from McKinsey & Co. (“Women in the Workplace”) and The Girls’ Lounge (“The Economics of Equality”). A sampling of the 26 participating Owned and Operated publishers who will feature March Forward content are Momtastic, theFashionSpot, CraveOnline, TotalBeauty, and AfterEllen.
Each of the 26 Evolve Media properties will be continuing the conversation on its social media channels by using the hashtags: #marchforward; #wagegap; #equalpayforequalwork; #womenshistorymonth.
