Peter Serafinowicz Cast in Lead Role of ‘The Tick’

British comedian Peter Serafinowicz has been cast in the lead role of The Tick, a live-action series based upon the Bed Edlund comic book character set to air on Amazon Prime Now.

The Tick, best known for its 1994-96 cartoon adaptation, previously received a live-action TV series in 2001 starring Patrick Warburton in the lead role. The series was short-lived, having only lasted for nine episodes before being canned by Fox.

Warburton was again set to appear in the role for the new adaptation alongside members of the original cast, though now Amazon has revealed that this will not be the case, with The Guardians of the Galaxy and Shaun of the Dead actor Serafinowicz set to play the big-chinned superhero.

Though Serafinowicz may not be familiar to international fans of the comic book, he’s a relatively well-known name in the UK having starred in his own comedy series The Peter Serafinowicz Show, along with receiving minor roles in a selection of high-profile movies. He was also the man behind the hilarious “Donald Thump” YouTube video that did the rounds a couple of months ago.

The Tick will see the superhero fighting evil alongside sidekick Arthur (Griffin Newman). Transcendence director Wally Pfister is at the helm of the reboot.
