Following a steady monthly audience increase in a record broadcast year (September 2015 – August 2016), Discovery Science unveiled its Spring 2016 lineup on the heels of its most-watched February in channel history. The schedule is headlined by the all-new series Secret Space Escapes, which will air on Sundays at 8 pm beginning May 1st and reveal terrifying accidents, fights for survival, and stories of close calls complete with first-hand accounts from the astronauts who survived them.
Proving itself a popular choice among Canadian viewers, Discovery Science closed out the winter season with monthly audience highs in what’s trending to become the most-watched broadcast year in channel history (Total Viewers, Adults 25-54, and Adults 18-49). Every month since September 2015, the network has set an audience high compared to the same month in the previous year among total viewers and the key Adults 25-54 demographic. In fact, the Adults 25-54 audience was up 33% in February 2016 vs. February 2015. During this period, Discovery Science content consumption is also on the rise with average weekly hours of viewing increasing 27%.
Featuring rare and never-before-seen footage, Secret Space Escapes draws viewers into the emotional experience of space exploration through the brave explorers who rely on science, training, colleagues, and most importantly their wits in order to survive launches, spacewalks, landings, collisions, outages, and other dangerous situations that can and sometimes do occur during missions.
