Space delivers an otherworldly new series with the exclusive Canadian premiere of The Aliens – fast-paced, witty, and wry, this six-episode, hour-long sci-fi drama is set in present day Britain, 40 years after aliens crash-landed on the U.K. coastline. Set in a walled ghetto inhabited by the aliens and known as “Troy”, the series follows young border guard Lewis (Michael Socha, Being Human) as he is drawn into Troy’s seedier side.
From the team behind the popular British sci-fi series The Misfits, The Aliens takes viewers into the depths of Troy, the lawless, illicit paradise full of parties, drugs, violence, and some very bad people. The aliens who inhabit Troy appear almost identical to humans but are tagged by Border Control in order to be identified. They are allowed out of Troy to perform menial jobs as long as they have been disinfected and return before curfew.
Enter Lewis (Michael Socha), the unassuming, well-meaning border guard trying to make his way in life. Despite a strong distaste for all things alien, Lewis finds himself seduced into the world of Troy by the enticing alien Lilyhot (Michaela Coel, Chewing Gum). Smart, calculating, and tough, Lilyhot strives to make a name for herself in Troy and will do whatever necessary to make it happen. Further complicating Lewis’ life and entangling him with Lilyhot, is the discovery that Lewis himself is half-alien. In search of answers, Lewis follows Lilyhot into the underbelly of Troy, and takes his loyal best mate Dominic (Jim Howick, Peep Show) along for the ride.
In the premiere episode of The Aliens (Wednesday, May 4th at 9pm) Lewis is patrolling the wall, but after a chance encounter with mysterious alien Lilyhot, his life is thrown into turmoil.
The Aliens premieres on Wednesday, May 4th at 9pm.
