XBOX 360 Put To Rest As Microsoft Cease Production

A lot of Gen Y-ers are feeling very old today as after ten years Microsoft announced that they will stop production of the Xbox 360. That’s right, the Xbox 360 is ten years old which makes you bloody ancient.

Celebrating its tenth birthday last November, the console certainly had a good run, lasting longer in office than most heads of state, especially by Australian standards.

Speaking of the decision, Microsoft’s head of Xbox Phil Spencer wrote a touching blog post to send off the console.

“Thanks to the Xbox 360, we evolved Xbox Live from the original Xbox into the thriving online gaming community it is today,” he wrote.

“The console became a beloved gaming and entertainment hub with over 78 billion gaming hours played, nearly 486 billion Gamerscore on 27 billion achievements and over 25 billion hours spent in apps over its lifetime.”

There’s no use crying, and violence will solve nothing. Let us just calmly bid our old friend farewell with dignity before sobbing into our beers.
