Not every craft brewery comes with its own mythology. But then 3 Floyds isn’t exactly a normal craft brewery. Would you expect anything less from a company with beers named Zombie Dust, Apocalypse Cow, Cimmerian Sabertooth Berzerker, Arctic Panzer Wolf, and Alpha King?
Next month, Image Comics is bringing the 3 Floyds mythology to comics with Alpha King, a new miniseries written by Brian Azzarello (Dark Knight III: The Master Race) and 3 Floyds founder/brewmaster Nick Floyd along with artist Simon Bisley (Lobo) that delves into the strange and bizarre backstory of the Alpha King himself.
CraveOnline has an exclusive preview to share from Alpha King # 1, as Brewer and his girlfriend CiCi are unexpectedly accosted by Clan Shvilly, the dark servants of the Rice King who demand their pound of flesh from Brewer…and they don’t care if their fantasy realm is intruding upon our reality or who they have to kill to get it!
Here’s the official description of Alpha King # 1:
“Alpha King is set a long time ago in a town far, far away (Hammond, Indiana), where Brewer and CiCi are producing a home-brew so distinct that it attracts the attention of a monstrous king and his horrid minions from another dimension. Swords are unsheathed, lines are crossed and sieges are laid for the rise of the Alpha King.”
3 Floyds’ Alpha King # 1 will be released in comic stores on Wednesday, May 4.
