Space may be the final frontier, but Star Trek is moving to Canada!
CBS announced via twitter that the next Star Trek TV series will be filmed in Toronto this fall. More specifically, Star Trek will be shot at Pinewood Toronto Studios.

The new Star Trek series will be produced exclusively for CBS All Access, a subscription streaming service. The show doesn’t currently have a title, but Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager writer Bryan Fuller will be an executive producer and the showrunner. Outside of Trek, Fuller created Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls, and the latest television incarnation of Hannibal. Fuller is also slated to bring Neil Gaiman’s American Gods to TV for STARZ.

While there are no cast members currently in place, CBS and Fuller have made a number of moves that appear to be designed to win fans over. Star Trek II and Star Trek VI director Nicholas Meyer has signed on to the new show as a writer and a consulting producer. Rod Roddenberry, the son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry also signed on as an executive producer.
The new Star Trek series will debut on CBS in early 2017, before it becomes a CBS All Access exclusive.
