You may not know the name Philip K. Dick, but we can remember him for you wholesale! Dick was the writer whose stories were adapted in major films like Blade Runner and Total Recall, as well as the Amazon original series The Man in the High Castle. Thanks to Sony Pictures TV and the United Kingdom’s Channel 4, there’s about to be another Philip K. Dick series.
Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K. Dick was officially announced today by Channel 4 and Sony as a ten-part anthology series written by Ronald D. Moore, a veteran of the Battlestar Galactica reboot, Outlander, Carnivàle, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Former Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston will executive produce and appear in the anthology series.
The anthology series will feature standalone adaptations of Dick’s stories from a team of American and British writers that will explore “Philip K. Dick’s prophetic vision and celebrate the enduring appeal of the prized sci-fi novelist’s work.”
In a statement, Cranston said; “This is an electric dream come true. We are so thrilled to be able to explore and expand upon the evergreen themes found in the incredible work of this literary master.”
“As a long-time fan of Philip K. Dick’s work, it’s a tremendous honour and thrill to be part of this series,” added Moore. “His short stories are a treasure-trove of material for artists to draw from and I think this will be a very exciting project.”
Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K. Dick doesn’t current have a network lined up for the United States, but that will probably change very quickly.
